100 Meter Dash
Sissonville's Makinley Britton pulled away from the field to take the win by 0.22 over Buffalo's Cami Samples.

200 Meter Dash
Sissonville's Makinley Britton pulled steadily away from the field to win by nearly 0.6 seconds in 25.97. Only Moorefield's Parvatee Snyder and James Monroe's Monaka Moore were also under 27 seconds.

400 Meter Dash
Buffalo's Cami Samples pulled away down the stretch to win in 59.82. Ravenswood's Riley Sotomayor and Weir's Gianna Siegal battled close for 2nd with Sotomayor taking the spot 1:00.32 to 1:00.39. One of my predicted placers scratched the event.

800 Meter Run
Lincoln's Raley Cochran went out aggressively and held the lead throughout. Frankfort's Bailey Ferguson was close behind the whole way but Cochran was able to hold her off, 2:21.28 to 2:22.05. Lap 1 - Cochran, Fergson, Sotomayor, Souders, Sites, Samples, Raines, Cobb. Finish - Cochran, Ferguson, Samples, Sites, Sotomayor, Raines, Cobb, Kirby.

1600 Meter Run
Frankfort's Bailey Ferguson broke open a close race on lap 3 and powered away for the 10 second win in 5:11.21. That mark gives her the 8th Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Lincoln's Raley Cochran held close for 2 laps and was never threatened for 2nd, taking that spot in 5:21.20. Lap 1 - Ferguson, Cochran, Sites, Raines, Cameron, Carpenter, Baker, Milnes. Lap 2 - Ferguson, Cochran, Sites, Raines, Cameron, Carpenter, Baker, Gorrell. Lap 3 - Ferguson, Cochran, Cameron, Raines, Sites, Carpenter, Baker, Gorrell. Finish - Ferguson, Cochran, Sites, Cameron, Raines, Carpenter, Baker, Milnes.

3200 Meter Run
Frankfort's Bailey Ferguson moved into the lead on lap 3 and then absolutely destroyed the field thereafter. She went from 2 seconds behind at the end of lap 2 to 9 seconds ahead by the end of lap 3. Her time of 10:59.76 is the 4th Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. She ended up taking the win by 45 seconds. Williamstown's Cassie Sites was the only other one to get in under 12:00 with an 11:44.85. Lap 1 - Baker, Ferguson, Raines, Sites, Clendenin, Kindle, Harris, Woods. Lap 2 - Baker, Ferguson, Sites, Raines, Clendenin, Harris, Shoemaker, Kindle. Lap 3 - Ferguson, Baker, Sites, Raines, Clendenin, Harris, Shoemaker, Key. 100 Meter High Hurdles
Roane's Josie Cox obliterated the field, taking the win by 1.1 seconds in 15.78. Only the Weir duo of Myleigh Clevenger and Ella Kaufman were also under 17 seconds.

300 Meter Low Hurdles
Roane's Josie Cox dominated the 300's as well, taking the win by over 2.8 seconds in 46.52. Only Berkeley Spring's Abigail Close and Buffalo's Cami Samples were also under 50 seconds.

4x100 Meter Relay
Williamstown got a strong anchor leg from Maggie Johnson to move them into the lead with about 50 meters to go. The foursome of Audrey Lefebure, Addison Richardson, Aleena Johnson, and Maggie Johnson took the win in 50.90. They held off a late charge from Tyler Consolidated, who went 51.00, while Sissonville was very much in the mix in 3rd with a 51.17.

4x200 Meter Relay
This lacked the drama of the 4x100 as Williamstown ran away from the field with the crew of Audrey Lefebure, Addison Richardson, Luci Collins, and Maggie Johnson taking the line in 1:47.53 to win by over 2 seconds. Lincoln went 1:49.79 to take 2nd by over 1.5 seconds.

4x400 Meter Relay
Weir took a solid lead on the first leg and never looked back. The squad of Rachel Lazear, Ryann Jeter, Lea Young, Gianna Siegal took the win by nearly 6 seconds in 4:16.32. Williamstown won a close battle for 2nd as 4 teams were in conention for the spot at the final exchange. Lincoln took the 3rd spot with Frankfort charging into 4th late and Braxton taking 5th.

4x800 Meter Relay
The Williamstown group of Bridget Kirby, Luci Collins, Sylvia Harris, and Cassie Sites took the lead mid-way through the 2nd leg and extended their lead throughout most of the rest of the race to take the win in 10:11.02 to Lincoln's 10:19.90. Leg 1 - Lincoln, Braxton, Williamstown, Weir, Clay, Oak Glen, South Harrison, James Monroe. Leg 2 - Williamstown, Lincoln, Braxton, South Harrison, Weir, Oak Glen, Clay, James Monroe. Leg 3 - Williamstown, Braxton, Lincoln, Oak Glen, South Harrison, Weir, Clay, Buffalo. Finish - Williamstown, Lincoln, Braxton, Oak Glen, Weir, South Harrison, Clay, Buffalo.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
The Weir team of Myleigh Clevenger, Kameryn Mallas, Ryann Jeter, and Ella Kaufman took the lead early and held it throughout, taking the win by almost 1.5 seconds with a 1:07.87. Only Roane joined them under 1:10 with a 1:09.26. One of my predicted placers got hit with a DQ.

High Jump
Tyler Consolidated exchange student Ayo Buerger cleared 5'2 on her first attempt to secure the victory. Considering she also throws the Shot Put very well and runs 1:02 in the 400, she really needs to consider coming back to the US for college and taking up the Heptathlon. Doddridge's Brooke DeHaven got 5'2 on her 3rd attempt to move from 5th to 2nd. Petersburg's Isabella Reel and Berkeley Springs' Reese Souders each cleared through 5'0 cleanly to tie for 3rd. Tyler Consolidated's Kathryn Grimm also cleared 5'0 to take 5th.

Pole Vault
Williamstown's Grace Boone proved to be the class of the field. She didn't even come in until there were just 4 others remaining. She cleared 10'6 on her 2nd attempt to move into the lead, and no one else was able to clear the mark. That 10'6 clearance also gives her a tie for the 10th Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Tyler Consolidated's Ralynn Heintzman was in position for the win before Boone cleared 10'6 and held the 2nd spot as the only other one to clear 10'0. Doddridge's Jaycee Lipscomb cleared 9'6 for 3rd.

Long Jump
Lincoln's Kaylin Sipher took the lead on her 3rd jump and held it the rest of the way, taking the win with a 16'1.25 jump. Doddridge's Brooke DeHaven was 2nd with a 16'0 jump. Everyone else was at least 8" behind those two. Williamstown's Addisyn Kerby moved from 5th to 3rd on her final jump. One of my predicted placers was injured on her first attempt and withdrew from the competition.

Shot Put
Buffalo Freshman Willow Rowe dominated the event. All 6 of her throws were valid, and all 6 were further than anyone else threw. Her top mark of 39'7.75 won by over 2 feet. Williamstown's Reagan Corbett threw 37'3 for 2nd place. Everyone else was nearly 4 feet behind these two.

Discus
Williamstown's Reagan Corbett had 6 legal throws, and all 6 were better than anyone else's best. Her top throw came on her 5th attempt and went 123'6 to win by over 8 feet. By contrast, Buffalo's Willow Rowe had only 3 legal throws. Her 2nd best throw would only have gotten her 7th place. She was sitting in 8th when she uncorked a 115'4 toss on her 5th attempt to move from 8th to 2nd. Doddridge's Brooke Burnside held the 3rd spot at 112'1. Petersburg's Ayden Mayfield fouled on 4 of her 6 attempts, had to have a clutch throw on her 3rd attempt to make finals and then threw 109'3 on her 5th attempt to move into 4th. Doddridge's Jeonah Underwood threw 108'1 for 5th, and Sissonville's Malaya Perkins threw 106'11 for 6th.

The final score of 122 of 144 means that 84.7% of the people picked to place did indeed place. That's 6 better than last year. I got all 8 placers in the 200, 100HH, 4x100, and 4x400. Congratulations to those that proved me wrong.
